2.3. General settingsThis section explains the board's General settings. To access this page, go to the administration page and select the 'General settings' from the menu. Site settingsThese settings allow you customising the general web page information... The Board name is the title of the web page (displayed in the title bar of the web browser). It will also be included in the e-mails send to users. The Board url is the url of your main page (with the http://). This is also used in the e-mail. The Index name is the name of your main page. Depending on your business need you can rename it: Your sections, Helpdesk, Information centre... About accent characters or symbols You can use accent characters or other specials symbol characters. The board support also html symbol codes (like &#nnnn;). It's not mandatory - but a good practice - to use these html codes. This allows users having navigator with different character settings to continue viewing the symbols or accent characters you have defined. ContactThe board e-mail is the e-mail address of the board responsible (or webmaster). This e-mail can be different from the administrator's e-mail. This e-mail is the address used when sending e-mails to the users. Be sure that this e-mail account is a valid account to avoid your e-mails being classified as spam by external mail systems or loosing the replies from the users. The contact name, address and fax, is the address of the board responsible (or webmaster). This information is included in registration form when using Coppa registration rules (see annexe 3 for details on the Coppa). SMTP settingsBy default, the board will use the local mail() function which should be available on your web host. If your web host does not allow SMTP, you can chose an external SMTP server to send your mail by defined the hostname (and eventually the login and password) of the SMTP server you want to use. TranslationsIf your board includes several languages, you can create multiple translations for the Name of the index. The translations are not mandatory; when a translation is not defined, the system will display the text as defined in the "Site settings" part. |
